Acupuncture at The Children's Hospital of Orange County: Pediatric Neurology Clinic

Updated: Feb 18, 2021

The evidence base for acupuncture is compelling! I recently spoke to the Governor’s Task Force on Opioid Abuse about acupuncture’s role in the opioid crisis. Integration of acupuncture as a treatment for chronic pain has been shown to reduce both the pain experienced by patients and the prescription rates of pharmaceutical pain medications, leading to improved quality of life and decreased risk of becoming addicted to opioids.

Recently, a documentary about acupuncture has been produced by The Acupuncture Now Foundation, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to educate the public about the crucial role of acupuncture in healthcare.

I’m excited to share this release of Getting to the Point: Episode One - which profiles the providers, families and pediatric patients involved in the acupuncture program at the Orange County Children’s Hospital. In this short film, see how children diagnosed with brain tumors and childhood seizure disorders are being treated with acupuncture and the integration of eastern and conventional medical care. Acupuncture’s track record for safe, non-addicting, and effective care makes it a viable modality for children.

I’d love to hear your thoughts or questions about the film and please share it with those if your life who may be curious about acupuncture or need resources for their own health needs.
